Job Summary:

The shipping & receiving supervisor oversees and develops the staff of the shipping and receiving department. Also, plans, organizes and monitors receiving, storage and distribution of materials for both suppliers and internal operations. This position maintains control and accuracy of both raw material and production inventories to ensure customer (internal or external) requirements are fulfilled on time and in full.

Essential Functions:

  • Provides a safe and healthy work environment by implementing policies and practices that adhere to company, local, state, and federal environmental, health and safety requirements.
  • Provides receiving, warehousing, and distribution operations by initiating, coordinating, and enforcing programs, policies and procedures to deliver on-time, in-full customer service.
  • Recruits, develops and retains sufficient personnel to ensure timely, accurate performance of warehousing and shipping activities.
  • Continuously improves warehouse personnel performance by coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; actively planning, monitoring, and appraising job results.
  • Complies with federal, state, and local warehousing, material handling, and shipping requirements by understanding existing legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions.
  • Coordinates with Planning and Operations to ensure material availability to support business production forecasts, as well as site efficiency expectations.
  • Controls inventory levels and manages space to support forecasts and purchasing cycles.
  • Conducts physical counts and reconciles with formal data systems.
  • Maintains physical condition of warehouse by planning and implementing new design layouts; inspecting equipment; issuing work orders for repair and requisitions for replacement.
  • Participates as a member of the site operations team in making cross-functional decisions.

Job Qualifications:

  • Preferred Bachelor degree in business, management or related discipline.
  • 3 years progressive experience within a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Experience in total quality, six sigma, lean or other similar manufacturing environments - a plus.
  • Skilled in the use and application of statistics and data analysis.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Works well independently and in a team context.

Plant Information:

Located in Fairbury, NE, this plant has undergone over $15 million of upgrades and expansions in the last 3 years. We take pride in our facility and understand the need to keep it in excellent condition and working order, balancing the need for current production and increasing capacity while maintaining a strong safety culture. The facility has a rail spur for efficient unloading of raw materials and loading of finished product. It also has multiple loading docks for loading out finished product by truck.

This plant site manufactures, packages and distributes liquid fertilizers and micro-nutrient products. There are separate manufacturing facilities, bulk storage, packaging lines, warehouses, distribution docks and maintenance units. Our QC lab is new and has excellent analytical equipment. The plant also has an off-site warehouse nearby that they are responsible for operating.
