Reporting to the Seed Accounting Supervisor, the Seed Accountant is responsible for the reconciliation of seed operations accounting entries and accounts. This will include monthly General Ledger reconciliations, journal entries, research, evaluation, and reporting. The role has responsibilities and accounting functions for U.S. and Canada National Branded seed as well as Proprietary seed.

Key Tasks:

  • Reconciles and monitors assigned balance sheet accounts
  • Month end entries to record accruals, allocation entries, and clearing of activity as appropriate for assigned balance sheet accounts
  • Coordinates with suppliers, retail branches and accounts payable to assist in invoice coding and supplier account reconciliation
  • Provide direction to retail branches on proper seed accounting procedures including phone, webinar, and in person trainings as needed
  • Prepares and distributes monthly reports to show marketing activity
  • Ad hoc projects as requested

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance from a recognized institution
  • A minimum of 2 years accounting experience preferred
  • Knowledge of accounting principles
  • Strong computer (MS Office-Excel) skills
  • PeopleSoft and OnBase experience is considered an asset
  • Knowledge of the retail agriculture business is considered an asset
