The Engineering Manager will report directly to the CPO Plant Manager. As the Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for 20 direct reports in the Technical Services department; these positions include all Engineers, Project Managers, Inspectors, & Laboratory Technicians.

Key Tasks:

  • Safety & Reliability Leadership. Conduct and oversee audits, job observations, Root Cause Failure Analysis.
  • Performance Management of all direct reports.
  • Development and approval of yearly goals for direct reports and entire department.
  • Yearly Capital Budget preparation; forecasting and reporting of capital spend monthly.
  • Long term capital planning (5 Year Capital Plan).
  • Expense Budget preparation, forecasting and reporting of spend monthly.
  • Assist project managers in submitting and approving all capital funding requests (AFE).
  • Supervision and division of work for direct reports.
  • Operate as a back up to direct reports.
  • Provide technical input to the MOC (Management of Change) System.
  • Manage Capital Projects as needed, primarily through direct reports.
  • Assigns MOC (Management of Change) tasks - primary role contract review and selection.
  • Contractor oversite.


  • Possess a B.S. Degree in Engineering with a minimum of ten years’ experience.
  • Have demonstrated leadership capability and experience.
  • Be a self-starter, able to work with little direct oversight .
  • Work well in a fast-paced “team” environment.
  • Have excellent communication and reporting skills.
  • Possess problem solving, trouble-shooting, and diagnostic skills.
  • Excellent computer skills with a knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • SAP experience is a plus.
  • Experience with economic analysis and justifications.
  • Experience running and/or managing CAPEX ranging up to $10M.
  • Root Cause Failure Analysis (Cause Mapping, Taproot, MORT, etc).
  • Corrosion and materials selection experience.
  • Petro-chem experience.
  • Supervisory skills and experience.
  • Experience working in a plant environment.
  • PMP (Project Management Professional) certification a plus.
