The Specialist, Maintenance will report directly to the Plant Manager and the key responsibilities for this role will be to oversee the necessary planning, parts procurement, and execution of preventative/predictive maintenance and repairs to all plant equipment and buildings to ensure a safe and continuous operating environment.

Key Tasks:

  • Ensure implementation and compliance to the sites Life Critical Standards and PSM standards
  • Manage and execute simple capital projects for the site.
  • Support site’s continuous improvement initiative and be able to lead and execute improvements.
  • Work with Reliability COE and reliability Tech to ensure Agrium Standards are implemented relative to reliability.
  • Troubleshoot equipment /process problems.
  • Data management to allow for data based decision making.
  • Provide back up support for Scheduler role.
  • Manage and oversee spare parts inventory. Create a process to track and optimize this inventory.
  • Leader for implementation of items from reliability pyramid such as work initiation, planning, scheduling and work execution.
  • Play a critical role not only ensuring your own safety, but also the safety of others. You will have direct accountability for ensuring familiarity and demonstrating the Commitment to Zero policy, leading with a safety mindset and modeling the 3 Safety Principles, modelling the 10 Tenets of Operation and having your own personal safety action plan.

TheIdeal Candidate

Outside of the skills and necessary qualifications, our ideal candidate must be committed to achieving superior results with integrity and sustaining our safe and positive work environment while having the ability to embrace working side by side others in a diverse culture.


  • Engineering degree or equivalent work experience.
  • 5+ years experience in maintenance/ mechanical (manufacturing environment a plus).
  • Excellent interpersonal, planning, problem solving, process oriented and organizational skills.
  • SAP knowledge (a plus).
  • Microsoft office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint) proficient.
  • TPM (plus).
  • Continuous Improvement – preferred.
  • Lean Manufacturing – preferred.
