Reporting to the Production Superintendent, the Maintenance Superintendent is responsible for all maintenance activities at the site. This includes day to day maintenance, preventive and predictive maintenance, longer-term maintenance activities such as outages, turnarounds and non-routine work, support for capital project planning, development and execution. As part of the Kennewick leadership team, you will play a key role in ensuring the safe, reliable and efficient operation of the facility.

As the maintenance leader you will be responsible for the development of high performance maintenance groups, effectively providing leadership to the maintenance group through goals and objective, career planning, contribution review, skills training and development processes.

Key Tasks:

  • Safely lead and oversee all maintenance activities, including outages & turnarounds, while following Agrium's best practices.
  • Work closely with the reliability group to identify, monitor, and execute improvement initiatives with the goal of achieving maximum on-stream time and production.
  • Support the project group in coordination, development, planning and execution of capital and non-routing projects.
  • Develop and manage the maintenance budget including outages, tournarounds and non-routine items.
  • Lead/assist in the development of site long term electrical, instrumentation, rorating, and fixed equipment plans.
  • Steward to the asset management best practices and KPI's
  • Develop and manage third party vendor relationships, routinely reviewing contracts for cost appropriateness.

TheIdeal Candidate

Outside of the skills and necessary qualifications, our ideal candidate must be committed to achieving superior results with integrity and sustaining our safe and positive work environment while having the ability to embrace working side by side others in a diverse culture.


  • Knowledge of Process Safety Management Practices
  • Experience with industry codes & RAGAGEP’s, such as ASME, ANSI, and API .
  • Experience working with vendors and contractors.
  • SAP experience preferred but not required.
  • Microsoft office applications


  • Bachelors of engineering degree in a related discipline (i.e. Mechanical Engineering) with 10 year’s industrial experience and/or a minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible experience in an industrialmaintenance environment with direct exposure to the various maintenance disciplines.
  • Good organizational, interpersonal, communication, supervisory and team skills.
  • Leadership, advanced problem-solving and decision-making capability.
  • Experience coordinating and analyzing financial budgets and maintenance information.
