The Maintenance MEchaninc/Welder at the Kennewick facility will report dirctly to the Maintenance Superviosr. The job responsibilities include performing daily maintenance and overhauls on equipment; performing daily and routine preventative maintenance (PM’s) on equipment; welding, fabrication and installation of piping and piping components, and repairing all other types of static equipment, including heat exchangers, tanks, screws, elevators, and boilers. Prior to an offer of employment, the candidate will be required to pass a 6G two inch pipe welder qualification test in the GTAW (TIG) and SMAW (stick) processes. The candidate will also be required to pass medical evaluation and fit testing for air purifying and supplied air respirator use. Other responsibilities will include:

Key Tasks:

  • Ensuring safe and efficient work practices and adhering to safety and environmental policies,
  • Being able to perform in a high performance culture,
  • Working as a productive team member and support continuous improvement,
  • Cross-training and working in all areas of the facility as required,
  • Performing fire watch and hole watch duties
  • Performing work from elevated structures, ladders, scissor lifts, boom lifts, and man-baskets,
  • Complete mechanic progression training as required and within time lines outlined by KFO.

TheIdeal Candidate

Outside of the skills and necessary qualifications, our ideal candidate must be committed to achieving superior results with integrity and sustaining our safe and positive work environment while having the ability to embrace working side by side others in a diverse culture.


  • Have a solid understanding of maintenance practices and processes,
  • Possess troubleshooting and analytical ability.
  • Possess high degree of integrity and ownership.
  • Be able to excel in a team environment
  • Be a self-starter and work with little supervision, and willing to work overtime as required,
  • Possess basic computer skills.


  • Have a minimum of grade 12 education, and a minimum of 2 – 5 years of maintenance experience.
  • Have experience rigging, piping, valves, and other equipment.
  • Possess current qualification to ASME B&PV Code Section IX to weld carbon and stainless steels in all positions using SMAW and GTAW. Have experience performing pipe welding to ASME Code B31.3 requirements, including radiography (x-ray) quality welds.
  • Possess some mobile equipment qualifications (forklift, carry deck cranes, man lifts, etc.),
  • Be experienced with hydro testing of pressure equipment.
  • Have experience working in a manufacturing facility with hazardous chemicals present.
