As part of the Maintenance department, the Maintenance Mechanic will report to the Maintenance Supervisor.

Key Tasks:

  • Ensuring safe and efficient work practices.
  • Following and adhering to all safety policies and procedures.
  • Performing daily maintenance and overhauls on all rotating equipment, as required.
  • Performing daily and routine preventative maintenance (PMs) on rotating equipment, as required.
  • Performing millwright work including major overhauls of rotating equipment.
  • Documenting repairs and reliability information on equipment.
  • Following written procedures and completing detailed checklist.
  • Working closely with contractors, vendors and internal departments to develop PM standards on equipment.
  • Attending and completing required training internally and externally specific to job skills.
  • Play a critical role not only ensuring your own safety, but also the safety of others.
  • You will have direct accountability for ensuring familiarity and demonstrating the Commitment to Zero policy, leading with a safety mindset and modeling the 3 Safety Principles, modelling the 10 Tenets of Operation and having your own personal safety action plan.

Outside of the skills and necessary qualifications, our ideal candidate must be committed to achieving superior results with integrity and sustaining our safe and positive work environment while having the ability to embrace working side by side others in a diverse culture.

Skills:

  • Minimum of 5-10 years on-the-job experience as a millwright mechanic,Specific working knowledge of all types of pumps, compressors, gearboxes, turbines, etc.
  • Possess strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Works with little supervision and must be a self starter.
  • Troubleshooting and analytical ability.
  • High level of skill in the use of all types of alignment tools i.e. laser.
  • Proficient in pump alignment and the use of alignment tools.
  • Rigging certification.
  • Capable of reading a micrometer graduated in .0001 of an inch.
  • Vibrations background and understanding of vibration analysis.
  • Impeller, sleeve and bearing clearances and tolerances.
  • Knowledge of different types of bearing failure and how to correct them.
  • Knowledgeable basic rules needed to understand centrifugal pumps.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent,Possess basic computer skills.
  • Minimum of 5-10 years on-the-job experience as a millwright mechanic.
  • Specific working knowledge of all types of pumps, compressors, gearboxes, turbines, etc.
  • Possess strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to excel in a team environment,
  • Works with little supervision and must be a self starter.
  • Troubleshooting and analytical ability.
  • High level of skill in the use of all types of alignment tools i.e. laser.
  • Proficient in pump alignment and the use of alignment tools.
  • Rigging certification.
  • Capable of reading a micrometer graduated in .0001 of an inch.
  • Vibrations background and understanding of vibration analysis.

Qualifications of the position that would be a plus (+) include:

  • SAP experience,Experience in process plant operations.
  • Ability to operate heavy equipment, including forklifts, man lifts, backhoes, graders, cranes etc.
  • Understanding of lubrication analysis.
  • Basic welding certification.
  • Pump and Seal certification.
  • Alignment of kiln and dyers.
  • Vibration Level 2 certifications.
