Loveland Products Inc., a division of CPS, offers a complete line of high performance crop input products including seed treatment, plant performance, nutritionals, adjuvant and crop protection products. Loveland Products brings new, unique chemistries to the marketplace to provide innovative solutions to problems across the agricultural and professional non-crop industries.

Plant Information

Located in Billings, Montana, the plant produces approximately 6 million gallons of liquid herbicide annually. The plant employs 35 people with roles in operations, maintenance, environmental compliance, QC laboratory, warehouse, rail/truck loading, office staff and site leadership.

Job Summary

As a member of the Maintenance Team, the Maintenance Mechanic monitors, troubleshoots and repairs plant process equipment and mobile equipment to support production and continuous improvement in plant reliability. The Maintenance Mechanic is also actively engaged in plant safety, environmental stewardship, and waste minimization efforts.

Key Tasks:

  • Engage in the plant safety programs such as Near Miss Reporting, Work Hazard Assessment Tool, and Commitment to Zero
  • Support the facility’s obligations to environmental stewardship and waste minimization
  • Execute plant maintenance with an appropriate sense of urgency to maximize production
  • Experienced TIG and stick pipe welder in carbon steel and stainless steel
  • Utilize the EAM CMMS to document maintenance work order history
  • Able to read construction/fabrication blueprints and other drawings.
  • Experience conducting predictive/preventive maintenance work (PM’s) on chemical process equipment and packaging line equipment
  • Experience troubleshooting and repairing packaging line equipment
  • Experience installing, troubleshooting and rebuilding centrifugal and positive displacement pumps.
  • Experience with laser alignment of rotating equipment including pumps, fans, and compressors.
  • Experience operating forklift, picker, telehandler, skid steer

The Ideal Candidate

Outside of the skills and necessary qualifications, our ideal candidate must be committed to achieving superior results with integrity and sustaining our safe and positive work environment while having the ability to embrace working side by side others in a diverse culture.

Skills:

  • At least three years of plant maintenance experience
  • Able to work in a fast-paced team environment

The following experience is considered a plus -

  • Pipefitting.
  • Basic nondestructive testing such as dye penetrant, magnetic particle and ultrasonic thickness testing.
  • Basic vibration analysis of rotating equipment.
  • Basic electrical and/or instrumentation troubleshooting and repair.
  • Basic automotive repair.
  • Use of a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) to enter work order hours, PM findings etc.
  • Inspection of API storage tanks
  • Able to read and understand process flow diagrams (PFD) and piping and instrument drawings (P&ID)

Qualifications

  • High school diploma required, vocational training in a technical trade considered a plus
  • A valid driver license and dependable transportation
  • Ability to work in a drug-free workplace.

Physical Requirements

  • Must be physically and medically capable of wearing a respirator
  • In a manufacturing plant environment, must be able to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) such as hardhat, safety glasses, gloves, hard toe boots, fall protection, hearing protection
  • Able to ascend/descend stairs and ladders
  • Must stand and walk on concrete floors and elevated walkways
  • Must sit and operate a computer
  • Capable of working in varying temperatures and high humidity
