Loveland Products Inc., a division of CPS, offers a complete line of high performance crop input products including seed treatment, plant performance, nutritionals, adjuvant and crop protection products. Loveland Products brings new, unique chemistries to the marketplace to provide innovative solutions to problems across the agricultural and professional non-crop industries.

Plant Information

Located in Billings, Montana, the plant produces approximately 7 million gallons of liquid herbicide annually. The plant employs approximately 40 people with roles in operations, maintenance, engineering environmental compliance, QC laboratory, warehouse, rail/truck loading, office staff and site leadership.


As a member of the Site Leadership Team, the Maintenance Manager oversees the plant maintenance and reliability improvement functions. Directly supervise the maintenance crew. Collaborate with the other Leadership managers to achieve improvements in plant safety, maintenance practices, reliability, and production.

Key Tasks:

  • Play a critical role to ensure not only your safety but also the safety of others. You will have direct accountability to know and demonstrate the Commitment to Zero policy, lead with a safety mindset and promote the 3 Safety Principles and the 10 Tenets of Operation.
  • Support the facility’s obligations of environmental stewardship and waste minimization
  • Develop a general understanding of all site production processes
  • Oversee and utilize the EAM CMMS to manage maintenance procurement, work order backlog, and weekly maintenance work schedule. Become a site EAM expert user
  • Manage weekly and daily schedule and workload of maintenance crew, and measure and track crew productivity and quality, including rework
  • Maintain the parts and supply inventory for efficient and timely maintenance work completion.
  • Develop and implement a written training/progression plan for all Maintenance employees
  • Conduct performance reviews of direct reports, following CPS performance management policy
  • Develop and manage 3rd party vendor relationships. Routinely review contracts for cost and service optimization.
  • Oversee the selection, qualification, scheduling, use and quality of contractors performing non-routine maintenance, including contracted predictive (PdM) and preventive (PM) maintenance.
  • Develop and manage the annual maintenance expense budget, including the annual Outage
  • Recommend and purchase new equipment, tools and repair parts
  • Provide input to the annual capital budget for equipment replacements or improvements
  • Develop work scope, organize and manage the annual maintenance Outage
  • Analyze maintenance history and failure data to improve the EAM preventive maintenance (PM) program, including long-term equipment plans for electrical, instrumentation, rotating equipment, fixed equipment and packaging equipment.
  • Organize the plant equipment maintenance history records into a single, user-friendly location.
  • For plant pumps, specify types, sizes and best operating and maintenance practices for optimum performance
  • Manage and continuously improve the plant mechanical integrity program
  • Maintain the main shop and satellite maintenance areas in a clean and safe condition
  • Perform such other duties as may be occasionally required

The Ideal Candidate

Outside of the skills and necessary qualifications, our ideal candidate must be committed to achieving superior results with integrity and sustaining our safe and positive work environment while having the ability to embrace working side by side others in a diverse culture.


The following qualifications are considered a Plus:

  • BS degree in Engineering, mechanical or chemical preferred
  • Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional (CMRP) certification
  • Experience leading root cause failure analysis (RCFA) investigations
  • Experience using AutoCad or SolidWorks to create drawings
  • Experience developing or using engineering codes and standards
  • Experience with computer networks
  • Experience with control systems, PLC’s, VFD’s and ladder logic programming
  • Experience with ASME Boiler & Pressure Vessel Codes
  • Experience with ASME and API process piping codes
  • Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification
  • API 570, 653 or 510 certification
  • Knowledge or certification in non-destructive testing (NDT) methods
  • Knowledge of reliability-centered maintenance (RCM), Lean, and Six Sigma
  • Knowledge of Process Safety Management (PSM) practices
  • Hold a Montana boiler operator license


  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • At least six years of plant maintenance/reliability experience, with at least three years in a supervisory role
  • Able to lead others, and communicate effectively with direct reports, peers and others throughout the organization
  • Must be very well organized, including proficiency in organizing maintenance history records
  • At least three years of experience using a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS)
  • Able to read and understand process flow diagrams (PFD) and piping and instrument drawings (P&ID)
  • Able to troubleshoot problems with plant process and packaging equipment, and design basic repairs
  • Able to provide and receive positive and constructive job performance feedback
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office applications, and general computer proficiency

Physical Requirements

  • Must be physically and medically capable of wearing a respirator
  • In a manufacturing plant environment, must be able to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) such as hardhat, safety glasses, gloves, hard toe boots, fall protection, hearing protection
  • Able to ascend/descend stairs and ladders
  • Must stand and walk on concrete floors and elevated walkways
  • Capable of working in varying temperatures and high humidity
  • Must sit and operate a computer
