As part of the BNO maintenance team, reporting to the Maintenance Superintendent, the Maintenance Engineer contributes to the success of the organization by maximizing the utilization of plant assets by ensuring the highest level of equipment and process reliability.

The Maintenance Engineer ensures, through support from other groups, that equipment is available to perform as expected and when required to ensure BNO meets and exceeds budgeted manufacturing of high quality fertilizer.

Key Tasks:

  • Creating efficient and effective site maintenance work through engineering support
  • Ownership and mechanical design reviews of plant changes through the MOC process.
  • Analysis of maintenance history and failure data to prioritize issues and opportunities and develop preventative and predictive maintenance strategies and tactics.
  • Leading Root Cause Failure Analysis investigations.
  • Conducting equipment assessments during maintenance and inspection opportunities for life expectancy evaluation and repair quality.
  • Developing equipment specifications and reviewing equipment purchases and installations to ensure that equipment is built to recognized practices.
  • Working with Technical Services Reliability Group, other Reliability and Maintenance Engineers and participation in Corporate Reliability Network.
  • Supporting the department long-term maintenance plan and asset management goals.
  • Troubleshoot equipment problems.

  • Develop capital and expense projects.

  • Provide documentation for plant modifications.

  • Control costs.

  • Maintain a general knowledge of the operation’s process.

  • Identify and report all safety concerns.

  • Take corrective actions for any safe hazard for themselves or others.

  • Understand and follow site, company, and governmental policies or standards.

  • Champion unit / business initiatives.

  • Provide and support cross-functional communications.

  • Communicate priorities within unit.

  • Provide and communicate continuous improvement ideas.

  • Play a critical role not only ensuring your own safety, but also the safety of others. You will have direct accountability for ensuring familiarity and demonstrating the Commitment to Zero policy, leading with a safety mindset and modeling the 3 Safety Principles, modelling the 10 Tenets of Operation and having your own personal safety action plan.

TheIdeal Candidate:

Outside of the skills and necessary qualifications, our ideal candidate must be committed to achieving superior results with integrity and sustaining our safe and positive work environment while having the ability to embrace working side by side others in a diverse culture.

Skills:

  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills with key stakeholders
  • Proven experience in planning, problem solving and organizational skills
  • Working knowledge of SAP is considered an asset
  • Knowledge of ammonia, urea, or syngas processes a plus

Qualifications:

  • Mechanical Engineering Degree with 3-5 years experience

  • Problem solving for a wide variety of problems (technical and organizational) in addition to contributing specific operating and technical experience.

  • Computer proficiency
