The Technician, Lab reporting directly to the Manager, EHS&S/Lab, will be responsible for organizing and conducting the daily activities of the plant analytical laboratory, including collecting, analyzing and interpreting lab results on plan processes to ensure quality assurance and quality control.

Key Tasks:

  • Specific responsibilities will include:
    • Analyze daily shift samples and raw materials as necessary.
    • Work in all areas of the plant where needed, which includes climbing stairs, working in extreme environments at times and un-even surfaces.
    • Prepare samples to be analyzed.
    • Maintain Lab & equipment.
    • Compile data and generate reports.
    • Possess strong written and verbal communication skills.
    • Be willing to enhance personal skills through training both onsite and offsite.
    • Be on time and ready to go to work at the designated work time each day with behaviors and attitudes that support a High Performance Safety Culture.
    • Ensure safe and efficient work practices and adhere to safety and environmental policies.
    • Work with minimal supervision and self motivated.
    • Work as a productive team member and support continuous improvement.
    • Complete progression training as required and within time lines outlined by BNO.
    • Be available for call outs after hours and on holidays if needed. (nights and weekends as required).
    • Play a critical role not only ensuring your own safety, but also the safety of others. You will have direct accountability for ensuring familiarity and demonstrating the Commitment to Zero policy, leading with a safety mindset and modeling the 3 Safety Principles, modelling the 10 Tenets of Operation and having your own personal safety action plan.

TheIdeal Candidate

Outside of the skills and necessary qualifications, our ideal candidate must be committed to achieving superior results with integrity and sustaining our safe and positive work environment while having the ability to embrace working side by side others in a diverse culture.


  • A Chemistry degree is preferred but not required
  • SAP experience,
  • Experience in process plant operations
  • Experience with Gas Chromatograph (GC) and ICP instruments
  • Experience with compliance to lab management standards, chemical hygiene programs, narcotics licensing a plus.


  • BS in Chemistry or related degree a plus.
  • Lab Technician work experience preferred in a manufacturing environment.
  • Two years experience preferred.
  • Proficient computer skills (Word, Excel & Outlook).
  • Strong math skills.
  • The ability to lift 50 lbs and stand at work bench for long periods.
