Reporting to the Contracts/Property Manager, provides primary support to the Legal Department staff, at headquarters office for Agrium Retail for contracts and related matters.

Key Tasks:

  • Draft, review and assist in negotiating all storage, warehouse, consignment, utility, construction and material transfer agreements.
  • Act as primary contact for customers requesting those contracts listed above and for questions regarding insurance requirements, required approvals and overall procedures.
  • File and manage UCC Financing Statements.
  • Assist Contracts/Property Managers with various legal projects.
  • Assist Contracts/Property Managers in coordination and development of new template agreements, including revisions to existing form agreements.
  • Work with all customers to provide training and support for Legal Department’s contract management site.
  • Maintain and keep contract statuses updated on Legal Department’s contracts management site for customers.
  • Assist Legal Department staff in reviewing assessing risk and elevate agreements to legal counsel as necessary.
  • Ensure that all agreements are completed in accordance with Agrium Retail polices, legal requirements and customer specifications.
  • Cross train with contracts and property team members.
  • Assist with claims handling.
  • Other duties as required by management

  • Excellent organizational, prioritization and attention to detail skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member.
  • Self-motivated, results oriented, ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including verbal and written communication.
  • Ability to work independently and recognize contracting issues that need to be elevated.
  • Provide timely responses to internal and external inquiries.
  • High proficiency in reading comprehension of Contract language.
  • Previous work experience in a Corporate environment is preferred.


  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent job related experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of legal experience in contracts, property, finance, or legal administration.
  • Paralegal certification an asset.
  • Ability to communicate professionally, in person, in writing or by telephone.
  • Proficient in MS Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint, Workshare Compare, Outlook and Legal File Management Systems. Knowledge of MS SharePoint a plus.
