Dyna-Gro Agronomy Services Manager

REPORTS TO: Agronomy Director DEPARTMENT: Seed


This position will provide service to the Western Cornbelt region for Crop Production Services. You can be located anywhere within the territory, but preferrably IA, NE, SD, ND and/or MN.

The Agronomy Services Manager is responsible for managing, training and providing agronomy support for the Dyna-Gro Agronomists and CPS Divisions. Must have an understanding of the Dyna-Gro product line and overall seed agronomic knowledge. Efforts in this role should lead to increased quality of agronomic seed support, increased confidence in the Dyna-Gro brand and ultimately increased seed sales of Dyna-Gro products. The position will be monitored to ensure the satisfaction of the Agronomy Director.


  • Communicating the Dyna-Gro message. Building and strengthening of the relationships. Communicating with CPS Division and Regional managers and the Seed Agronomists is key to this position. The goal is to keep the territory staff informed of Dyna-Gro news, goals, direction and information to increase support of, and confidence in, the Brand. Relating of information from the territory back to Dyna-Gro is also critical.
  • Assist/guide Dyna-Gro Agronomists in their seed support efforts.
  • Manage Dyna-Gro Agronomist territory sizes with guidance from the Agronomy Director, lead hiring searches and interviews for new Dyna-Gro Agronomists, conduct annual evaluations.
  • Evaluate products, Identify product needs and share data with Product Managers.
  • Conduct and/or host DG Agronomist trainings for product knowledge and confidence, Dyna-Gro tools, brand and company direction, and to broaden agronomic knowledge base in areas that will lead to improved quality of support from the DG Agronomy team.
  • Encourage and aid DG Agronomists in creation of agronomic bulletins, newsletters, alerts and other agronomic support materials.
  • Review and approve as necessary, Customer Service Inquiries (CSI’s), ensure DG Agronomists follow-up on field issues all the way through to completion/resolution.
  • Administrative, (expense reports, emails, organize/ attend meetings, CCA credits, etc).
  • Perform other duties as assigned.



  • BS or MS in Agronomy, Soils, Ag Business or other ag-related degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in ag industry; with an understanding of seed and crop production practices.
  • Must be a Certified Crop Advisor, Certified Professional Agronomist or ability to become certified.
  • Working knowledge of computers and various software packages used in business applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Proven knowledge of standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the agriculture industry, as well as the application of agricultural nutrients and chemicals.
  • Should have experience with developing agronomy plans (soil fertility recommendations, seed selection and placement, and pest management).
  • Creativity and innovation are a must.
  • Must be a self-starter, highly motivated to exceed goals, yet thrive in teamwork environment.

General time Distribution of responsibilities:

% Time Responsibility

35.0% Coordinate with Seed Managers and other Division and Regional Staff; Maintain communications with DG product managers, regional seed managers and division seed managers on product needs, marketing challenges and successes, production status, new product pipeline, product characteristics and placement details, etc.

25.0% Manage DG Agronomists; Visit in territory and offer guidance and assistance for DG Agronomists: offer general direction, conduct ride-a-longs, attend and/or participate in meetings, field days, etc. Manage Dyna-Gro Agronomist territory sizes with guidance from the Agronomy Director, lead hiring searches and interviews for new DG Agronomists and conduct annual evaluations.

20.0% DG Agronomist Training; Development and implementation of training and continued education for seed agronomists on subject areas such as; products and agronomy, Dyna-Gro tools (Precision Placement, Seed Matrix, plot app and others), assist in the development of the DG Agronomists knowledge base and improve interaction within their respective territories.

15.0% Assist Agronomy Director; Assist the Agronomy Director with training development and implementation, communications, plot coordination and standardization, conduct internal surveys, and other duties as required.

5.0% Administrative and Customer Service Inquiries; Evaluate, troubleshoot, report and follow-up on field problems reported by DG Agronomists and CPS divisions. Insure the situation is satisfactorily resolved. Expense reports, managing emails, organizing/ attending meetings, professional development, CCA credits, etc.
