Reporting to the Maintenance Superintendent, the Millwright Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day safe and efficient supervision and execution of the Millwright department’s preventative, routine and immediate maintenance requirements.

Key Tasks:

  • Ensure safe and efficient work practices (people, work processes and practices)
  • Develop plans to maintain/increase equipment reliability; Develop maintenance procedures and monitor their use, compliance, and efficiency
  • Understand and implement Agrium’s Maintenance Standards and best practices
  • Monitor PM/PdM compliance, and ensure high housekeeping standards are maintained
  • Be the key Interface for team with other Supervisors, Project Engineers, Materials Management, Planning, Operations, and others. Keep management apprised of unit status.
  • Complete annual performance reviews for all direct reports; Mentor maintenance personnel within the team

Production Optimization-

As a front line supervisor you are accountable for your team’s results. You are expected to provide daily work direction that optimizes the use of available resources (people, time, job assignments, and equipment). This includes cross-functional co-ordination and the use of all reports and business support processes in your area of responsibility (e.g. Work Orders, SAP, Environmental Health & Safety Management System, etc.) You are expected to monitor performance indicators and proactively address issues that could impact your team’s results.

Performance Management & Employee Development-

You are to effectively manage team and individual performance by providing clear definition of roles & expectations, connecting individual/team goals/expectations with business priorities, and seeking feedback on what’s working and what’s not working. You are expected to provide regular coaching, give frequent recognition for achievements and to address performance gaps by helping employees recognize and close them. You are responsible for implementing corrective or disciplinary action after seeking consultation with your supervisor and Human Resources advisor. In keeping with business priorities, you are to coordinate opportunities for growth & development for your team members.

Relationships & Communication-

You are to facilitate effective communication within your team, between work groups (shifts, departments –on or off site -, external agencies), and with management. Effective communication includes the sharing of pertinent information in a timely manner with the relevant people (up, down or across), and effective listening to ensure understanding. This will assist you to create teamwork and collaboration and will result in more effective decision-making and optimum business results.

Continuous Improvement

You are to seek best practices on & off site to continuously improve processes and team productivity and effectiveness. You will work with your team to support, plan and implement changes as needed.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma
  • Journeyman provincial or inter-provincial ticket,
  • 7-10 years progressive, applicable experience
  • Solid understanding in planning and scheduling maintenance work
  • Computer skills including SAP knowledge
  • Solid understanding of maintenance practices and processes
