As a member of the Corporate Finance Team, this temporary role will support the implementation of new accounting standards IFRS 15 – Revenue and IFRS 16 – Leases. This role will work within the Finance team in Calgary.

Key Tasks:

  • Producing and delivering communications to audiences of varying accounting knowledge.
  • Proactive communication and collaboration with external and internal stakeholders .
  • Working independently with stakeholders, as well as under the direction of the project manager.
  • Producing deliverables according to agreed templates appropriate for project scale.
  • Collaboration with subject matter experts and functional business leads to aid with the development of companywide accounting process and policies in respect of IFRS 15 and IFRS 16.
  • Assist in user acceptance testing to test system and process modifications and ensure the results are in line with the new accounting specifications.
  • Provide technical accounting support for the project life cycle.
  • Carry out accounting research, analysis and prepare accurate and clear documentation of findings.
  • Support functional leads to undertake financial analysis including data gathering to support the preparation of accounting overviews in respect of IFRS 15 and IFRS 16 impacts.
  • Prepare training material and provide group wide training material on these new or amended IFRS statements, on problem areas and relevant industry developments.
  • Liaison with SOX, Internal and External auditors in respect of the project.

  • Detail oriented.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, able to interact, influence and promote cross functional collaboration.
  • Excellent organizational skills, ability to prioritize multiple assignments, adapting to changing priorities and situations, and follow-through on the completion of assignments.
  • Ability to partner with both technical and non-technical staff.
  • Ability to travel.
  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills with expert fluency in Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Strong presentation skills.


  • Bachelor's degree with a finance background preferred with a CPA and/or CA designation.
  • Some knowledge of the IFRS 15 and IFRS 16 new accounting standards would be a major asset.
  • Knowledge of lease financing or asset management would be an asset.
  • 4-5 years of practical experience in technical accounting.
  • A professional degree or a combination of education and experience may also be considered.
  • Knowledge of Agriculture, Manufacturing and Supply Chain an asset.
  • Competent and proficient understanding of a variety of technology platforms, including ERP’s such as SAP and PeopleSoft, as well as current Microsoft and Internet technologies.
