Fuel Sales Manager

(Central – Northern Saskatchewan)

Main Function:

Reporting to the Prairie Fuel Manager, this position is responsible for implementing and executing annual business plans for their division. The Fuel Sales Manager will be responsible for direct selling to commercial customers, to support agri-product branches to sell to agricultural customers and to supervise fuel truck drivers in their division.

Responsibilities include direct sales and sales coaching; environment, health and safety for their staff, truck fleet and terminals including regulatory compliance; human resources management; operating cost oversight; efficient operations.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Lead local focus to support short term strategic positioning of the fuel sales business in Agri-Products and to facilitate long term fuel strategies for future growth.
  • Specific accountability for overall safe performance and profitable results for the division and all branches. Responsibility includes EH&S, gross sales and margins, pricing, marketing programs, expense management and inventory management.
  • Ensures regulatory compliance, record keeping and reporting is completed as required.
  • Manages all employees in the division including annual assessments, managing staff turnover, facilitating staff development and leads recruiting.
  • Oversight for truck operating fleet and all terminals in the division with the responsibility to ensure safe, efficient delivery of all customer orders while optimizing expense management and equipment utilization.
  • Provides recommendations for capital upgrades within their division.
  • Manages day to day interaction with all direct reports, other agriproduct divisions and branch personnel and customers.
  • Facilitates the resolution of customer complaints and product claims.
  • Lead the direct selling effort for commercial customers and support the selling effort for agricultural customers at all branches.
  • Work with fuel central office staff to support successful execution of sales plans.
  • Work with logistics to optimize inventory management and ensure no runouts.
  • Support collection, dissemination and interpretation of market intelligence.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

Education:

University degree in Agriculture, Business Administration or Commerce preferred.

Experience and skills:

  • A minimum of six (6) years’ experience in agribusiness or fuel business.
  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
  • Demonstrated understanding of sales and marketing for fuel products and services.
  • Understanding in accounting, purchasing and inventory management.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both written and oral.
  • Maintain strong working relationships with internal and external people.
  • Understanding of the energy business in western Canada.
