Crop Production Services has a fully integrated seed company that includes research, breeding, sales, production, operations, marketing and has its own brand known as “Proven Seed”. We have an opportunity for a new leader within our Seed Division. This position will work with the CPS management teams to develop, implement and manage strategic business plans for the company’s forage portfolio.

Product Line Representative – Proven Seed

High River, AB

This position is responsible for supporting the development, implementation and management of proprietary Proven Seed field trial and marketing programs. This includes working with CPS product line managers, advertising and marketing partners and the CPS Research, Development and Innovation team to grow the Proven Seed portfolio within Western Canada.

Main Responsibilities Include:

  • Responsible for supporting the Proven Seed brand and marketing programs as prescribed by Product Line Management and the Proven Seed Brand Management.
  • Support and provide recommendations regarding technical information, demo strips and trial programs.
  • Supports the co-ordination of all the Proven Performance Trials with the Proven Seed Agronomy Leads, Managers of Agronomic Services, research agronomists, internal staff and retails.
  • Ensures the efficient and effective use of resources to support the establishment, execution and completion of the Proven Performance Trials.
  • Supports the creation, aggregation and delivery of technical information and field data.
  • Provides support to key learning and development initiatives associated with the Proven Brand.
  • Coordinates and support local tours with Research, Development and Innovation agronomists as well as local retail agronomist to maximize exposure to the Proven Seed Brand.
  • Provides feedback and insight to Product Line Management to improve on product development and marketing programs.
  • Manages Field Performance Trial inputs such as seed and supplies within timelines and budget.
  • Responsible for inventory management of Performance Trial supplies.
  • Responsible for understanding market needs today and in the future by utilizing many information sources to synthesize future demand and ensuring the product portfolio is aligned to meet the market needs at a profit.
  • -Responsible for supplier contacts within the Proven Performance Trial program.
  • Creates and builds positive relationships with industry and government organizations that impact and influence the sales and marketing success of the product line.
  • Responsible for helping develop short and long term marketing communications plans in support of Product Line Management.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

The Ideal Candidate

University degree in Agriculture, Commerce or Business Administration with an emphasis in the area of marketing.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • A minimum of three (3) years field agronomy and sales or marketing experience
  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
  • Demonstrated ability to assess risk and exercise sound judgment in making decisions.
  • Demonstrated negotiation and interpersonal skills.
  • Detail oriented.
  • Proactive approach in building and maintaining relationships with suppliers and internal clients
  • Computer competent, with demonstrated ability in the use of spreadsheet, database and word processing software applications within a Windows based operating environment.
  • Manage effectively within a team-based work environment with realize success.
