Reporting to the Senior Director, Strategic Procurement, the Manager, Strategic Procurement is responsible for the following:

Key Tasks:

  • Leading the Strategic Procurement Team, comprising of Buyers and Warehouse personnel, to implement best practices

  • Strategic Supply and management of goods and services

  • Establish aligned yearly goals and objectives for the department and personnel.

  • Department finance budget development/cost control and monthly reporting.

  • Work with the business lines and corporate office on projects, strategic initiatives, resource planning and business plans.

  • Lead continuous improvement for procurement, materials management, and inventory control

  • Manage VMI inventories/replenishment for customers

  • Lead the Site Strategic Procurement Team (SP), Buyers and Warehouse personnel to implement best practices through SAP business and standards.

  • Ensure that the Strategic Procurement Team has the skills/capability required to make strategic sourcing recommendations to our business customers.

  • Work as an active participant on the Services Management Team.

  • Manage the team’s development by providing opportunities, encouraging both personnel and professional growth.

  • Ensure the Strategic Procurement Team conducts all business matters in a highly professional, ethically, honest and fairness to our suppliers and customers.

  • Manage Strategic Procurement operations to support operating unit maintenance turn arounds and execution.

Skills:

  • Inculcate Safety and cultivating excellence culture.

  • Leads and manages the site Strategic Procurement Teams for effectiveness and efficiencies. Creating a competitive environment resulting in generating cost savings to achieve best value of each dollar spent.

  • Performance management and Establish aligned yearly goals and objectives for the department and personnel (performance based leadership).

  • Provides a high level of procurement support for projects such as turnarounds and other capital projects. Includes a strong working knowledge of the business unit’s requirements and further interfacing with the Contract and Project Buyer to develop the best overall purchasing strategy for these projects.

  • Manages and ensures a high level of service to meet customer requirements by ensuring all purchasing procedures are performed as per the site and Corporate Supply Management policies.

  • With limited supervision applies subject matter expertise to a broad range of technical reports/analysis /transactions common to the unit's mandate, processes and programs. Seeks assistance related to complex or unusual situations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and or Purchasing Post-Secondary training.
  • CPM or CSPM designation or working towards designation.
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in procurement, materials and warehouse management
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a leadership role preferably in an Operations Environment.
  • Procurement and contract management experience as a leader
  • Warehouse and inventory management experience
  • Extensive knowledge of SAP Material Management, procurement and warehousing would be an asset.
  • Supervisor requires an experienced professional with extensive Manufacturing, Procurement, Contract, Inventory and Warehouse Management. SAP, and business systems knowledge/skills.

  • People leader with excellent leadership skills able to work in fast pace and high pressure working environment

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, planning, problem solving, and organizational skills.

  • Working knowledge of computer tools (data base, MS Word, Excel).

  • Must have excellent time management skills to prioritize activities in a dynamic operating environment

  • Must demonstrate strong relationship building with internal and external customers and peers.

  • Must possess a high level of ownership.

  • Lean training or understanding of Lean principles would be considered an asset.
