Reporting to the Supervisor for Reliability, the Inspector will be responsible for assessing the mechanical integrity and safety of equipment and executing the inspection needs for Fort Saskatchewan Nitrogen Operations (FNO). The inspector will be responsible for maintaining the pressure equipment integrity management system at FNO.

Key Tasks:

  • Inspect pressure vessels, pressure piping, pressure relief devices and tanks.
  • Monitor corrosion of vessels and pressure piping systems.
  • Conduct nondestructive testing.
  • Compose technical reports.
  • Complete data entry in the Inspection Management Database (Visions)
  • Support fitness for service evaluations.

Outside of the skills and necessary qualifications, our ideal candidate must be committed to achieving superior results with integrity and sustaining our safe and positive work environment while having the ability to embrace working side by side others in a diverse culture.


  • High degree of accountability.
  • Able to mentor junior staff in Reliability Dept.
  • Provide recommendations to head of department in consultation with Agrium Wholesale Inspections Group and Mechanical Integrity SMEs.
  • Take leading role in assigned mechanical integrity initiatives.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills combined with a demonstrated ability to organize and manage multiple priorities.Strong verbal and written communication skills combined with a demonstrated ability to organize and manage multiple priorities.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, SAP and Quality Assurance Programs.
  • Knowledge/experience with Risk Based Inspection (RBI).
  • Knowledge of Visions asset management software preferred.


  • a High School Diploma is required
  • A Technical Institute Certificate or a Journeyman Trade Certificate in a related discipline
  • A minimum of 7 years experience
  • API 510 Certification and ABSA IPV Certification is required
  • API 570 and API 653 are strongly preferred
