Reporting to the Manager, IT Security this position will primarily focus on securing access to our Industrial Control Systems (ICS) and identifying cyber-threats to our manufacturing facilities and the organization. This will be achieved via analyzing threat events from multiple sources, such as IDS/IPS, Antivirus, firewalls, system logs and others, then escalating any relevant security issues to the appropriate areas. This role will also encompass maintaining a cyber-threat dashboard. Additionally, the position will be responsible for providing the appropriate teams with guidance on security issues that need to be remediated. The individual must have a strong awareness of current and developing security threats and technologies to support research and recommendations.

Key Tasks:

  • Intermediate understanding of Industrial Control Systems cyber security.
  • Utilize information from Agrium’s Security infrastructure to gain visibility into cyber-threats and cyber-incidents. Create dashboards to support this function.
  • Intermediate understanding of Network Fundamentals.
  • Architecture and design of Checkpoint firewalls.
  • Previous experience with secure public cloud architectures.
  • Conduct Threat and Risk Assessments on new projects.
  • Understanding of Industrial Control Systems and security concepts to secure them.
  • Establish a threat modeling methodology to identify, classify, prioritize and report on enterprise threats using the organizations SIEM and identified risk classification.
  • Act as a core team member (with guidance from the lead incident responder) with Agrium Computer Security Incident Response (CSIRT) to analyze and prevent various threats.
  • Carry out Triage on security events, raise incidents and support the Security Incident Response process.
  • Prepare drafts of changes for existing IT security procedures and policies or for new policies and procedures as a result of new attacks by hackers.
  • Security investigations and forensic investigation of computers upon “incidents”.


  • A thorough knowledge of networking, security awareness, awareness of malicious activities on the internet.
  • Dealing with highly confidential, sensitive information.
  • Initiative to escalate risks when appropriate.
  • Excellent communication skills and Technical writing skills.
  • Attention to detail and strong ability to determine root cause.
  • A customer focused attitude that enables the business to operate effectively in a secure manner.
  • Educate other IT Staff members of operational issues within security.


  • Post-secondary Degree or Technical Diploma is preferred.
  • 5-7 years experience directly related to IT Security.
  • SANS GSEC and GCIH certifications.
  • Initiative to complete the Offensive Security Certified Professional (OSCP) within one year of taking on role.
