This role allows you to develop diagnostic agronomy skills and inter-personal skills while providing you insight into the sales, operational and administrative functions of the company. The Seasonal Operations Support / Crop Scout Assistant is an excellent entry level role and opens the door to future opportunities with Crop Production Services locally and world-wide.

Key Tasks:

  • Inspects farmers’ fields
  • Record weeds, insects, diseases and other observations
  • Communicate observations to the CPS location representative and back to the customer
  • Demonstrated communication, interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Help farmers make timely, informed and economical field crop decisions
  • May also be an opportunity to provide location support and special events support during the growing season
  • Receives, stores, blends and ships ag products
  • Inspects all shipments and advises Branch Manager of any variance
  • Manages inventory as required
  • Operates machinery as required
  • Completes all training as required
  • Ensures paperwork is completed for all product entering & leaving site
  • Maintain yard, facility and equipment as required
  • Complies and enforces all CPS and Industry regulatory and EH&S standards at all times
  • Assists in the development, implementation and maintenance of a positive image program.
  • Performs other related duties as required

The Ideal Candidate

  • Ability to work outdoors for extended periods of time under all weather conditions
  • Persons looking for a challenging summer experience that involves prompt decision making, embracing leadership and helping farmers succeed
  • Above average organizational skills, ability to understand new concepts and learn quickly, complete work targets with little or no supervision in a timely manner, self-motivated
  • Having a farm background is advantageous but not necessary


  • Grade 12 or equivalent
  • Education includes (but not limited to) students or graduates from university or college agricultural programs, business programs or other education who are genuinely interested in working in the agricultural community
  • Valid divers’ license and a good driving record
  • Ability to meet the CPS policy requirement by completing a Criminal background check, Drug/alcohol testing, and Driving Record Abstract
